During our range meets, we run a series of drills to train for competition and/ or real life situations where you faced with the defensive use of a firearm. For drills, we use paper and steel targets and moving targets. We train drawing from a holster, commencing from a seated position, from the prone position or any combination. Some range meets will involve the use of both rifle and pistol in transition drills. During the fall and winter, we take advantage of the early sunsets to run low light drills, involving the use of a flashlight.
The range meets involve advance use of a firearm requiring a level of confidence and proficiency in the use of a firearm beyond beginner status. NRA Range Safety Officers are present throughout the entire meet to foster a safe shooting environment.
Participants are required to bring their own firearm in safe, working condition, 200-300 rounds of ammunition, 3-5 magazines, a holster (for pistol drills), a sling (for rifle drills) and eye and ear protection. Participants are limited to persons legally qualified to own a firearm under Florida law. Presently, the minimum age to purchase a firearm is 21 years old, except for law enforcement officers and military personnel who are at least 18 years old.
